Acupuncture and Infertility

Acupuncture Can Help Increase Infertility

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been popularized in the treatment of of female infertility.

Benefits:

  • Acupuncture has been shown to help improve infertility by improving the outcome of IVF procedures.
  • Treatments can be used as early as 3 to 4 months prior to an IVF cycle to help with the following stimulate ovulation.
  •  For those with high FSH levels, acupuncture can help reduce FSH levels so a woman can be accepted for an IVF procedure or they can improve these numbers to help them get fertile naturally.
  • Ovulation induction: many women do not ovulate. Ovulation stimulates the movement of blood to the pelvis as well as strengthening the body to improve the body’s response.
  • Builds up the uterine lining. many women have a lining less than 6 cm thick . This is not a healthy environment for egg implantation. Acupuncture helps to build up the intrrauterine lining to enhance implantation.
  • Acupuncture helps to reduce stress and cycle out stress hormones which can help calm and relax the body, so fertility outcomes are increased.

How do you measure success?

Using traditional Chinese examination of the tongue and  pulse and questioning as well as a basal body temperature chart, we can see the dance of the hormones and what they should be doing or are not doing. A treatment plan of regular acupuncture to reestablish these rhythms is used to work with the 4 distinct parts of a menstrual cycle, the period itself, the time between the period and ovulation, ovulation and post ovulation. The temperature chart will improve as your body improves and this is easy to see and extremely helpful in diagnosis. The synthesis of the modern basal temperature chart with the ancient understanding of women reproductive function is used to help the person increase their chances of becoming more fertile.
